Day 100 - A picture of you smiling

Finally made it 100! I can't believe it's the last day of this Challenge. I know that many of you (the people that actually read these...ha!) are maybe getting tired of seeing my face. =P   It's true, this 100 Day Challenge feeds the vanity in a person. But it's been fun and it has definitely helped me with my ultimate goal... making a daily blogging habit.  You might wonder where I'll go after this, with out direction and the 'excuse' to put my face on the internet, yet again...  But never-fear. I have a plan. It's the Brookish Project 365. Check out the Project 365 page for more info. (It's in the tabs..) 

So time to get back to the post... a photo of me smiling. Seems almost like a boring choice for the last day of the challenge...but it's fitting too. Just me. Smiling for many, many reasons. Mostly, it will represent thanks to all of you that have put up with my daily links to "My Beautiful Brooke"... hopefully you realize by now that the choice of blog title does not come from a place of vanity or wishful-thinking...but from a grateful and blessed place...in that I am Beautiful in God's eyes, despite my flaws.

Day 99 - A picture that was first on your facebook

I have 9457083498 pictures on facebook. But never fear. I think I know which photo was the first to grace the pages of the lame monster. FB is kind enough to help me out with this search by date-stamping every photo that you upload. This picture was definitely the first... it has the earliest date... September of 2008. I am pushing three years now in my affair with FB. Hm. =/   Who cares right?!  Anyways... good thing the photo was a decent one. Obviously... it is of me and My Love. You just saw a photo of me on the same night a few posts ago. We were out at the Mucky Duck for an early, sort of, birthday night out for me. Our good friend Tabatha was with us... and Tami and some others. But those two women are the only ones that I care about! Ha! 

Not sure what else to say about this.. I love love love my husband. He is my heart!

Day 98 - A picture of you and your friends out somewhere

Way too easy. I have a ton of these. Like..a million. Ha! The little circle of women I call friends are so much fun. We all really complement each other and our personalities mesh well. It doesn't really matter where we are, whether it's a back yard bbq, sitting around in someone's living room, laying out at the beach or busting out the good moves on the dance floor...we have a great time together. 

It's hard to find people that you truly enjoy and get along with when you are as nomadic as we all are. But these women have proven their amazing character and quality. I'm so glad to know them. There is no drama with them. Only genuine honesty and respect for one another. I know this group of ladies will remain close and in touch over the years...as the military takes us all in different directions as is its nature. 

For now though, it's not time to say goodbye, not even close. There are many, many more girls' night out's to be had and many, many more couch sessions to complete. 

This photo is great. We were just starting out our night. At the Hale Koa, where Sam's drink creation was being featured for a few months. The Mango Tango! Delish! It was a great start to a very memorable night.

Day 97 - A picture of something you no longer have

This one is full of things we don't have anymore! For starters... we don't have that house anymore!! Yah! Goodbye Ft. Ord!  

But then... we don't have that cheap-o entertainment center anymore. We have another cheap-o black one with doors! Ha!  

We don't have that giant 93098547 pound T.V. Thank goodness. If you have ever had a Sony Trinitron, you know what I'm talking about. We gave it to my fav maintenance guy ever, and good friend, Max. He's using it as a garage t.v. or something now. 

The rug is GONE!!  It has seen some things! 

And then... we don't have that VCR, PS3, and a few of those nick-nacks...and the ones I do still have, are mostly in storage. My Austin statues are out though! Love them!

Day 96 - A picture of something you made

Hm, what to choose for this one... I love creating things. I even have a few photos up on my Brookish Stuffs page. (That's a work in progress...I hope to fill it with wonderful, spectacular stuff that my amazingly fabulous brain came up with. ;)  hehe.)  Anyways..I think I will choose to feature a diaper cake that I made two Novembers ago for my cousin. This cake was one of two. I made a monkey themed cake for the baby...who is the cutest little second cousin I've ever had!... and this one for mama. I especially love the lighting in the photo. It makes the cake look so fancy. And the setting...my Grandmother's old wood dining room...the cupcakes and flowers... it's all great. Blue and orange and lime green are great together.

Day 95 - A picture of you on a hike

I LOVE HIKING!!

I have so many hiking pictures from the little handful of times we've gone while living here. We've seen some pretty amazing, extremely beautiful places. 

This is a photo of me and my precious family in March of 2010 on the hike to Maunawili Falls. It is definitely my favorite hike here...so far. I've done it twice...and plan to do it again at least 2 or 3 more times. This is the trail that leads into a gorgeous *about* 20 ft waterfall and pool. Maybe it's taller.. I dunno. But anyways, people jump from all sorts of places into the pool. It's really great to watch. On this trip, my husband and oldest daughter jumped. I was camera woman. If you ever come to visit me, make me take you there!!

Day 94 - A picture of you and your friends eating

I don't think there actually exists a photo of me or my friends eating anywhere! At least, not that I know of.

Look... being photographed while shoveling daintily placing food in your mouth is not EVER flattering. So I try to avoid it at all costs. And since I know this, I try to avoid taking pictures of my friends while they're eating. I'm nice like that. ;)

This photo was taken on a fun night out with some friends for Aprill's birthday. Surely yall know who Aprill is by now. Ha!  Obviously, from the to-go boxes in the foreground you can tell we've just finished eating. I think that's as close as we're gonna get to a picture of the actual physical act. Sorry. =/

We'd eaten at Bucca de Bepo- which is such a fun restaurant, if I were doing a review you'd get a much more vivid image of the place-  and then went upstairs for drinks at the Dave & Busters Bar, played games and won tons of tickets!, and then back to the bar again. We capped off the night at our E-Club playing pool. Super fun time.

I love Apples to Apples. Right now that is my favorite. It's so much fun to play with our friends. And it's the go to game for game night. ...however... I do miss playing Scattegories and that charades game with Mayra!! She is my favorite person ever to do game night with. I miss her!

Day 92 - A picture of your school

I can not believe it! There are very few pictures of the University of Hawaii online. I have tons of pictures from around the campus... but nothing of "the school". Hm! So...this is the best image I could find online. I go to the main-mother-campus. UH Manoa. It's situated in the Manoa Valley smack dab in the middle of Honolulu. It's a gorgeous campus. The buildings are nothing to talk about. They are all soooo old and shabby. But they give the campus its historical charm. They seem to belong there among all of the over-grown trees that are hundreds of years old. It's a beautiful place. I feel fortunate to be able to spend so much time in such beauty. Too bad I can't transplant this scenery to UT!! I guess my Longhorn shirt will have to suffice... and believe it or not, there is actually a very, very large handful of students walking around in UT gear! Yaya!

Yes, I am a UH Warrior-ish. My heart still bleeds Longhorn Orange!! yah!!!

Day 91 - A picture of you and your friends playing a game

I immediately thought of this photo. Yah, it's old-ish...taken with an ancient digital camera-old. Ha!

According to the properties on the picture file in my computer...this was taken on September 11, 2005. Huh. Well..then. Seems like that should make the night profound... it was you know. Tiffany..you know. So....obviously we're playing twister. We were in Germany then. I'm wearing a Viva la Bam shirt. ((Yah...I don't know why. I think he is lame. I probably got it as a hand-me-down. And it's pink. I don't wear pink!! Except for in this picture.)) My hair looks orange-y. That's because I tried to dye it blondish. =/ The lovely lady that I am tangled up with is my old sweet friend, Tiffany. We're at her house. (That's Krystal and her hubs in the background. Why don't I have her on FB? I wonder how she has been!) So there I am...playing a game. The only other photos I know of where I am playing...are beer pong photos. Ha! Perhaps I will have to remedy this.

Day 90- A picture of you wearing your favorite color

So this was taken in August, 2008. In case you're wondering, it's the blue... that's my fav. Or- rather- I tend buy tons of clothes in this color cause I love it. I don't necessarily have a favorite color.
This was on the way to the Mucky Duck in Monterey. No that is not coke in my coke bottle. ;) It was s fun night. I was out with My LOVE and my girls, Tabatha and Tami. It was an early birthday night out for me. Sort of. I miss those girls so much. I miss our silly times together.

The Brookish Project 365

My new blogging mission... Project 365.

I've really enjoyed doing the 100 Day Photo Challenge. It has been fun to dig up old photos and search through the endless picture files that I have stored to find just the right snapshot for the day's topic. My vanity and photography obsession paid off. Now that it is coming to an end, I've been in search of something new to promote an everyday writing habit. I have brainstormed for days and only come up with a few worthy possibilities. Today, I was googling interesting photos and found this photo blog idea... Project 365. It sounds so fancy and official! Basically, I will be taking a photo each day, posting it to my blog and writing about it. The idea is to develop your photography & writing skills and to be able to document a year in your life in a way that you would not have thought to before.
I figure that this is the best of both worlds for me, in regards to writing and photography...even more so than the 100 Day Photo Challenge. I would love to develop and grow in both areas. The tips on the website I found suggest writing about the photo...maybe simply by telling what it is, where it is, who, when, etc. I think I'll go one step further and occasionally write stories, poems, tiny essays... it should be fun. And this time around I will have to take a new photo each day. So, there will be less of me even though I know you love seeing my face so much.  Can't wait to start! ...I don't know the exact day I will dive into this...but you will know. ;)

Day 89 - A picture of you at a hotel

These are photos of me at our hotel in Ibiza. I like to think it was a super nice place, probably a 5 star, back in its day. But when we got to it... well, let's just say that its day was decades in the past. Still, the hotel was cute. It was exactly what I picture in my mind when I think of Spanish Hotels. It was the kind that you could close your eyes and envision when you thought of any non-fancy Spanish hotel from almost any movie you've ever seen. The balcony, the french doors with draping curtains, the worn and weathered look to everything. It really was perfect. Except....for the shower. I found out the hard way that we were bathing in salt water. Ugh! It was awesome. Just like a scene in a movie, I was showering, totally enjoying myself and still completely stoked that I was actually in Spain on an amazing vacation with my Husband... and then it happened. I opened my mouth. Salt water from the shower head still tastes like the ocean. =/

Day 87 - A picture of someone you grew up with

This is a photo of a photo... I think Grandma did it. =) These are the people I grew up with. The Hearron Cousins!


We all did everything together. In the later years of our "childhoods" our time together grew further between...but all of us have amazing, fun, loving memories of our time together. Grandma and Papa Bill always made that possible! Our parents always brought us together, dressed us alike and promoted deep family bonds...that I think we all still feel! I miss seeing my cousins! Precious people.

Day 86 - A picture of someone who you treasure

There are a quite a few people that I could insert here... my heart is big for so many people and they are all so special in so many different ways. But the person I choose to talk about here today is my husband, Lucas. I know that probably doesn't come as a shock to anyone. I've said it before.. it is pretty evident just how much I adore my husband. 

Well, it is! I can't say it enough, and probably not even well enough... but I try. I am blessed to know him, to have him in my life. I am lucky that he chose me to be his wife. We are fortunate to mesh and grow up and change so well together. Our parenting techniques and values are basically completely in sync. And we make some pretty stinking beautiful children together, if I do say so... We balance each other out in so many ways. We work hard at our relationship. He is my lover, my best friend. I have so much fun with him, he makes me laugh..and I somehow manage to make him laugh too! He is the one person on this planet that I can trust with absolutely anything and everything. And while there are things that I reserve just for my girlfriends and mother, to save his sanity from crazy women ;)  ...I know that I could unload or talk about or behave just as I do with them...with him. He is a precious man, a loving, devoted, firm father, a genuine friend, an amazing and affectionate husband...and some other really fantastic things that I will not blatantly type out here on my blog. But you get it. ;)

Day 85 - A picture of randomness

I plead guilty to having way too many of these. This photo challenge feeds my vanity. Ha!! This is a photo of me..pretty random I guess. I was being a super dork. Taylor walked in and gave me this look... it's hard to describe... but you can imagine. There was some head shaking and some very "proud" eye rolling. I'm glad I can amuse... I try.

I have a couple of those! Fun!!  We all know...I am a ham! And I like to play with the camera! ;)

Day 83 - A picture of you and a teammate

Had to dig out an old high school photo album to get this one.  It's been a while since I've been on a sports team. I'll have new pictures soon though!! I'm joining a women's volleyball league this summer! FUN! 

This photo is of me and Grace. She has been one of my Loves since I was 12 years old. Here, we're posing for 9th grade drill team pictures. We were the McCullough Capercallies.. a.k.a. the Callies.  It was a weird transition time for The Woodlands schools.. Fun Fun year for us!!!
